The Anderson Shelter

22nd July 2016

A Replica Anderson Shelter was installed in the museums front garden during May & June by former and current members of Museum Staff.

It will form part of our education programme focusing on the experience of children during the Blitz of World War 2.

Please mention this to any teachers you may know, as we would be happy to welcome their school for a visit!

We would like to thank the following for their assistance in producing this replica World War 2 Anderson air-raid Shelter:

B. Jenkins & Sons Ltd –
for providing the 3 ton of sand for the sandbags.

Christ College Brecon –
for providing the Cadets to fill the sandbags!

The Barracks Brecon –
for providing the corrugated iron sheets.

The Regimental Museum Staff (current & former) –
for the design and construction of the shelter.

Janet & Ed Holcroft –
for providing the wartime garden.

There is a picture of the Anderson Shelter on the website under the Education Packages centre.
